about me
My name is Sophie and I have been involved in outdoor sports for the majority of my life.
My sporting career started with competitive swimming before I discovered the sport of kayaking and fell in love with being on the water. My enthusiasm for racing, particularly over short distances of 200m enabled me to compete across Europe in a number of regattas, including the World Student Games in Belarus. I competed for a number of years with Banbury and District Canoe Club, enjoying a number of personal and team successes and I dabbled in white water kayaking during my time studying at the University of Nottingham, winning two gold medals at the British University Championships.
Since my paddling career wound down, I have taken up running (I ran the length of Scandinavia in 2016 - you can read about it here) and really indulged in my love of the mountains. When we moved to the Lake District in 2020 I was thrilled to be able to spend lots of time in the fells and have since gained my Summer Mountain Leader Qualification - which means I can now share this love for the fells with visitors to this beautiful corner of the world.
My current goals include running a Bob Graham Round and furthering my leading career by gaining the necessary skills to pursue a Winter Mountain Leader Qualification.
